Stephen Saleh transitioned from successful careers in IT and Property Management to pursuing his passion for storytelling. Now fully immersed in screenwriting, he recently completed a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and is currently a full-time PhD research student at the University of Greenwich. Curious about his PhD? It delves into the fascinating worlds of John Dee, Shakespeare, alchemy, and the occult. Be warned—it’s a topic best saved for when you have a couple of hours to spare!
The story behind the story
Have you ever experienced the power of synchronicity—those linked coincidences that seem too statistically unlikely to be random? Pioneering psychologist Carl Jung believed synchronicity was an intrinsic feature of the universe, with unlimited opportunity waiting for those brave enough to open their eyes.
Threads dares to ask: What happens if you look just a little too hard? Delving into universal questions—Are our choices truly our own? How do synchronicities shape our lives?—this short film blends science fiction with deeply human storytelling, leaving audiences reflecting long after the credits roll.
Threads is written and directed by Stephen Saleh, a filmmaker with a passion for existential science fiction. His previous works include Dark Lines of London, A Plague on Both Their Houses, and Lockdown No.36.
We aim to begin filming in February 2025, with post-production completed by April 2025. Festival submissions will commence in June 2025, and backers will receive their rewards shortly thereafter.
Should we exceed our funding goal, additional funds will be dedicated to enhancing post-production effects and expanding our reach to even more prestigious film festivals.
